Step 1... Ako! Learn!

Our Mission

So, what is Allies of Gender Equality for Sport in Aotearoa?

An opportunity to create an Ally programme and opportunity that provides education and opportunity for all to contribute, empower and support women in sport in Aotearoa.

What are we trying to achieve?

To support people to understand the privilege they have and then how they can use this to work together with females to change the dial on gender equity. The focus is on men advocating for gender equity in sport. Enhance the culture of inclusion by engaging with females and providing support in their daily lived experiences.

What is Gender Equity?

Simply, gender equity is the provision of fairness and justice in the distribution of benefits and responsibilities between women and men.

The concept recognises that women and men have different needs and power and that these differences should be identified and addressed in a manner that rectifies the imbalances between the sexes. This may include equal treatment, or treatment that is different but considered equivalent in terms of rights, benefits, obligations and opportunities.
